Grandparents Day 2009
Our second grandparent’s day was a huge success! Our families began showing up at 7:30 in the morning and spent much of the day with us. We had a huge breakfast buffet, homemade corsages for our mothers, aunts and grandmothers, and a special performance for the grand people in our lives. Our Kindergarten, first and second graders led the morning with beautiful poems that brought smiles to the entire audience. Mrs. Buchta’s class did a beautiful job singing Somewhere from the musical West Side Story, Mr. Spencer’s class had the audience clapping along as they sang Remember the Times and of course how could the audience stay seated while Ms. Stevens and Ms. Edwards class performed Bad by Michael Jackson – clearly they could be an updated version of the famous video!
After our wonderful show and breakfast, our grandparents joined the students in their classrooms for a bit of learning fun. Each teacher planned an activity for the students to do with their favorite people. It really was a wonderful morning.
A special thank you to one of our very involved grandparents, Sergeant David Hunter, the grandfather of Grace Robinson for once again taking care of our school. Sergeant Hunter has replaced our Indiana State Flag for our school. He brought this to our school and donated it today. Thank you very much, you are a wonderful friend of our school!
