Obie Broke the Rules
Obie received a written referral for eating in class. Everyone at Fall Creek Academy knows that lunch is to be eaten in the cafeteria!
Of course, since this is a first offense we will explain the rules and expect better next time. Let’s give Obie a break for he is new to Fall Creek Academy. He is quite classy you see for he even wears snake skin to school on a daily basis….. have I mentioned that Obie is part of the animal family of Fall Creek Academy?
He is our pet snake and resides in the science room but is actually from Ms. Poole’s family tree. Obie’s cousins can be found in the fourth grade room (Speedbump the Turtle), the fifth grade room (Lucky the Rabbit), and numerous fish that swim throughout our school. Obie doesn’t eat regular food – or at least not regular to humans although like humans, our science students learned that they are carnivores but prefer mice and rats over fried chicken and hamburgers. On Fridays around 2:15 it is time for Obie’s lunch. The students have learned that when the mouse is dropped they are first constricted by the snake until Obie feels the heartbeat stop and then “gulp” and in one quick bite the mouse is gone. Obie will not eat a mouse placed in his cage that is not first alive but will also not eat a mouse until he feels the heartbeat stop. Although this sounds concerning, our students have learned that this is how our animals live in the world.
Feel free to visit and watch this experience – don’t worry – we won’t tell that we can see you peeking while you’re covering your eyes!
