Literary Lunching
Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!
The spirit of Theodor Giesel (better known to us as Dr. Seuss) was alive and well at Fall Creek Academy Monday, March 2 – and dishing out green scrambled eggs to our students.
In honor of the birthday of everyone’s favorite children’s book author, Principal Anita Silverman donned her own personal Cat in the Hat costume and served up heaping helpings of green eggs to the lunch crowd. “Just for the record,” she says, “this day is my favorite day of the year -- even better than the winter holidays and Halloween!”
“This is a great day to promote literacy and the fun of reading,” Silverman continues. “Many know his books for their great rhyme, but did you know that this rhyme method was actually called the trisyllabic meter? Along with children's books, he created television shows, a musical and was a political cartoonist. Theodor Giesel had an incredible life prior to becoming one of our favorite children's authors.”
Always the educator, Silverman offers the following: “I challenge all of you to have fun on this day and encourage the love of reading. Oh, the Places You Will Go!”
