Basketball Season Includes Our First-Ever Participation in IHSAA State Tourney
December 2, 2008
Nov. 26th vs. Ft. Wayne Elmhurst (Boys JV & V):
This past week in sports news the Engineer boys played host to Ft. Wayne Elmhurst. Coach Stone and the JV boys did an outstanding job for their first game. They showed a lot of promise but unfortunately they fell just 10 points shy of a victory. During the same evening Coach Elliott and the varsity team faced a very athletic and experienced opposition. The first half belonged to Elmhurst; they seemed to be running on all cylinders. The second half saw a totally refocused Engineer basketball team that competed on every possession. Nathan Brown, who proved to be deadly from behind the arc, shot 4 for 8 finishing with 15 points. Eugene Comer finished with 13 points.
Nov. 29th vs. Charles A. Tindley (JVB &VG) VB game rescheduled for Jan. 24th @ Tindley 2009:
The evening began with our Engineer JV boy’s team playing a hard-fought game that came down to the wire but ended in an disappointing 2-point loss. Armani Overton paced the Engineers with 13 points. Coach Stone was very proud of the way they fought and played together. The Lady Engineers faced a very tough Tindley team who had tons of experience and it showed. Our girls, coming off an impressive win against Providence, may not have been ready for this challenge. The Lady Engineers were behind for most of the game except a late run in the 3rd quarter. Our ladies may have an opportunity to face Tindley in the Lady Engineer Classic December 6th.
