Principal Anita Silverman built on the success of Fall Creek Academy’s first Principal Prize Party, where she asked our elementary school students to bring in their own public library card and receive a free popsicle from the principal.

“This month,” Dr. Silverman says, “students not only had to have a library card, but they had to meet the children’s librarian at their neighborhood library. The library is a wonderful place to spend a Saturday afternoon as the weather gets cooler.

“Our goal at Fall Creek Academy,” she continues, “is for all our students to become familiar with the library and all it has to offer. Our party for September included a signature page from the children’s librarian, a library card, a rice crispy treat, and a juice box.”

The party took place outside the school under the tree in the side yard. “We enjoyed a beautiful day and the treasures that a good book has to offer” says Dr. Silverman. The recipients of the Principal Prize Party not only received a yummy treat, but the principal even read the book “Where the Wild Things Are” by Maurice Sendak.

According to Silverman, “We all agreed that it is fun to dance the Rumpus Dance but only at recess and we can only sleep and dream at home because school is the time to stay awake and learn!”
