Using whiteboards for math
December 23, 2009
Mr. Hakim was looking for some teaching tools for his Title I math classroom. He teaches math to students in 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th grades that love being able to show their work in class.
One of the best ways for them to show him what they are learning is through mini white boards. In his math class, the students need to be able to show that they understand what they are learning during a lesson. He wanted to provide the classes with mini white boards and sets of dry-erase markers.
He turned to Donors Choose for help, and now has the tools his students need.
"My students have expressed that they feel bad that they cannot afford to bring me new dry-erase markers for them to use in class," said Mr. Hakim. "This request will allow them all to have their own white boards and will provide the classroom with enough dry-erase markers to make it through the remainder of the school year."
